Dorli Muhr’s wines are liquid love letters to Austria, viticulture and inspirational women. It was Carnuntum’s idyllic setting, combined with the memory of her strong-willed, grape growing grandmother, that prompted her to create a wine estate.

Dorli Muhr’s wines are made predominantly from the central European varietal Blaufränkisch and are organic, elegant and a lighter style of Austrian red.

Ried Spitzerberg

This wine is made from Blaufränkisch, Carnuntum’s traditional red grape variety. All the grapes come from a single vineyard and are hand-harvested from vines aged between 55-70 years. These old vines create a precise and aromatic wine with notes of red berries, violets and spice. Aged in old 1,000 liter oak barrels to ensure that the Blaufränkisch’s fruit flavors remain center stage.

Syrah

This single varietal Syrah loves the dry limestone soil its vines are planted in. The grapes are harvested by hand usually by mid-October when they have achieved optimum ripeness. Fermentation is spontaneous and happens at room temperature using wild yeasts. This, combined with aging for 20 months in old oak barrels, ensures that the wine is highly aromatic, jammy and has a clear structure.

Samt & Seide, Prellenkirchen

Samt&Seide translates as “silk & velvet” in German. The 35 year-old Blaufränkisch vines represent “silk” and the younger 15 year-old vines add a “velvetly” texture to the wine. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested from 20 separate parcels and the final wine has a unique minerality that expresses the limestone soil. This is an elegant wine with silky tannins, red berry fruit flavors and a refreshing acidity.
